looks like this Mass Air Flow Sensor (MHK100800OEM Same Fit As Part # MHK100800) - Land Rover sensors from Atlantic British - the reason I tell people to be careful, is that on a D1 the sensor is as much as a running truck. D2 is much cheaper. The sensors use a hot spot (wire or film) and measure the cooling on the sensor and compute the air going by, the ECU uses that to adjust the volume of fuel squirted on the fly, to keep a ratio of air/fuel at a very specifc ratio.

I use the crc maf cleaner in the grey spray bottle and it works great. I usually clean mine in the mornin so I know the wires are cool from sitting all night and then after an hr or so I'll put it all back together and I'm ready to go. You may not have to wait that long but I like to be safe with expensive parts like a maf.

If it is coil packs you may need to drive it around for awhile and get them hot before they will misfire for you. On my 99 I checked mine 3 times from cold start and they would work fine, wasn't til I got them hot driving around that they would act up.

Man that's expensive, I will clean the throttle body first and see what that does. Will I need to get new plugs after I clean it with Darb cleaner?
