Just thought you'd all like to know...
my water pump bearing is shot. Gotta order one and replace it. It's the family rig. Rovers North seems to be cheapest at $90+ shipping(correct me if I'm wrong, please) Will be an easy job so no worries there. Debating doing the intake at the same time just for fun(actually, to verify it isn't causing that erratic idle)
take a look at this, just did it, wish i had ordered gaskets, note that some bolts are various lengths, don't snap one off. https://landroverforums.com/forum/ge...ght=water+pump
That's around what Rock Auto charges, they have a variety of sources that go up from there. And about $6 at a salvage yard, if you can find a low miles D1 or D2 (same pump on 4.0 engines).
Rock Auto dot com. I buy from them primarily because they have inexpensive parts and ship USPS Priority. I've always had terrific luck with RockAuto. Used them for many makes of vehicles and highly recommend them to others up here.
Fan clutch is just fine. Water pump had just over a quarter inch of play in the shaft, but was not leaking any coolant(drove for 2 weeks like that till the pump came).
There are zero salvage yards here. Closest one would be a $400 plane ticket to Seattle.

I live in SouthEast Alaska. Summers are mid 60's, winters mid 30's. 13feet of rain each year. Sometimes we will get a week or 2 below freezing. And sometimes a week or 2 above 80(in the summer). No one puts a cover on their radiator here in the winter, and the diesels rarely plug in at night.
