Just curious... what make the Kalahari version so unique?

Is it just special marketing options only? Or something more performance or reliability enhancements specific?

Limited production (1 of 150), unique interior color scheme, unique wheels/color, stock hood blackout, saudi grill, custom low profile front bumper, safari gard rocker guards, and all the usual D2 goodies.

Mine has the cold weather package with heated seats & front windshield. That was about it’s only option package.

Mine is a white one and came optioned without the cold weather package but was kitted with Safety Devices rack and different tires. Also had the front brush guard with fogs and upper and lower rear lamp guards. I would have to check the original window sticker again but I believe it was $39995 and with the kit it was $42000.

I have heard different stories on the numbers but have not contacted LR directly. I have heard 150 yellow, 150 white and 50 grey. Also 150 yellow, 100 white and 50 grey. And I have heard 150 total.

And then I have heard different things on the preproduction units for 2001. But from conversations with LR it was verified that about 6 yellow ones were produced and had similar interior but did not have the tetra cloth pattern on the seat inserts and door panels. One of these has been here in the north Atlanta area since about '04.

Yeah mine had the roof rack, big LR Aux lights, lamp guards, cold weather package, but stock tires.

Some dealerships went crazy slapping all the LR Add-On’s they could on them, while others sold em plain jane.

The owner I bought it from sold the original roof rack when it didn’t fit into his garage, then later bought a different one a few years later.

I remember 150 yellow, 150 white, and 50 grey, as well. Then I also heard 250 total.

I love mine to death! I have removed the Saudi grill as the TX Heat made it very delicate, and I’m actually running an 03-04 grill with my TF front bumper as I couldn’t chop the Saudi up even in it’s delicate shape. Rest is Kalahari minus the bumper and grill.

I have a thing for LR Special Vehicles especially yellow ones! Window sticker was right at 42-44k.

That looks maybe like a standard D2 truck been converted, before anything else get the VIN # and check it out with LR Solihull, it's a lot of dosh to part with.

The front bumper is legit, interior minus carbon fiber BS is correct, grill is correct, and so is the safari gard rockers. It could be fake, but I doubt it. Wouldn’t be bad for 4k.

All bolt on goodies you can buy over the counter to order in the LR main dealership or on Ebay, certainly no performance enhancements. They came in 3-4 colours and are usually unsold Discos tarted up to shift them like many limited edition vehicles. There was an article in LRO about a guy who bought a yellow D1 thinking it was a kosher Camel Trophy jobby, it was untraceable, the only theory was it was a lemon so exported by LR to Japan as it was RHD and they converted it to Camel spec there. There were many press cars re-badged for various reasons and very few were kosher. IMHO it is defo worth checking out the VIN # as it may be a lemon.
