my friend has the disco 2 and his key broke off inside the key ignition. when he called the lock smith he said this is commin with the discovery 2,and they couldnt get the key out,so they "splacked it",so he could use a screwdriver,and use the new key to lock the door,so im going to the yard and im going to get the driver door lock and ignition for him ...any ideas ?why this happens? i know of 2 in the local yard,one is white and one is airbrushed pink and blk.both 2001.are they compible with the 2000?

 

Yes they are compatible with his truck. What he will need is the ignition and drivers side door handle, then he can take the key out of the Fab from the bone yard and put it his original Fab aka the one that broke. Switch out the handle and ignition and good to go. I haven't heard of a key breaking off in the ignition but I have a friend who's ignition cylinder broke and the ignition would just spin instead of starting the truck, hers is an 03. What she did was get a new ignition took it to a locksmith and he swapped the cylinder cases from them and then she had it put back in. However in her case the key didn't break off inside the ignition
