Key Fob question
1st go to owner's manual & check on the FCC ID you'll want purchase FOBs with this ID # 2nd code right now you'll need help.. on Range Rover the can be synced.. on Disc 2's don't know yet but it's 6 letters & # code buried in the string of letters & numbers on package.. which 6? by trial & error or look for help to identify location in "string sequence"
Well it's an old aftermarket key, i figured because i have to for a new bcu then i may aswell get a proper valeo disco key with the 6 digit code, cost me 20 quid just for the chip part though lol

I’m gonna say that one won’t work. My ‘04 came with a “brand new” (which it was) China knock off. Tried with my Nanocom. Nope. I got all the codes and numbers I could from the chip and tried all of them. I posted to failbook groups and just did a bunch of research on it, and it seems the only ones that will work are the OEM ones.
This is what mine looks like:

So I’ve decided to now prioritize when I’ll get keyless entry and pay the ~$300 for a new OEM fob.

Beware of the Ebay ones from China..... some are 433 mhz for Rest Of World..... while some are 315 mhz for the North America Discos.
I was helping a friend find a fob that has the 6-character code that can be programmed with my Nanocom. Here is an interesting one... We came across this seller selling new 315 mhz fobs for less than $30. The pic shows the 6-character code with the date of manufacture. However, the 6-character codes on the factory circuit boards contain a combination of alphabets and numbers. This one on Ebay only shows all numbers. Plus, the date of manufacture shows 2007 (well past the 2004 end of model year).
