99 disco II
part of my restoration efforts. only came with one key fob and it worked for a while. the micro switch(s) is gone from the circuit board for unlock but lock is still there. looks like one option is to get a new fob and have it programmed from the dealer?
I don't care about having the key cut done now but it would be nice to have the key fob for lock /unlock.
guess my question is does the 99 key fob set an immobilizer as well?
any input or info welcome!
Thanks.....

Th cheapest route is to get a used key fob from Paul Grant (he is a popular dismantler on this site). I bought one from him a few months ago for around $40 to $50.
I then used my Nanocom programmer and programmed in the bar code number into the Nanocom. The fob worked instantly.
You can take it to a 3rd party Land Rover shop to get the programming done, that is, assuming they have a programming unit. It is cheaper than taking it to a Land Rover dealer. The programming should not take more than a few minutes.
Another cheaper alternative is to get a replacement microswitch from Ebay. You will have to do some soldering:

Hey thanks, yea I found and older thread about the micro switch kit and just bought it since I don't have a way to program the key myself. $15 shipped with a new case , key and 4 micros . Worth a shot and don't see why it wouldn't work. I know the current chip works because I can unlock it by slipping a wire across the unlock terminals and the "lock" micro is still very solid and has a good button and works perfectly.
