Mine started binding like 3 years ago. Decided then I did not want to get future troubles.
Dismantled the lock, discarded the cylinder and the locking plunger; lubricated what was left and reassembled.
Now any key turns it, and the steering wheel never locks up.
Replaced the mounting screws with some hex heads that will easily allow to remove the assembly in the future if I ever want to return to stock.

 

Take your keychains off when using your key. The weight causes all kinds of damage and wear inside tumblers.

 

Yep, had the same situation the other day. Lubed it with WD40, moved back and forth with some force...and she liked it...key turned. Hopefully, she doesn't expect this treatment every morning...too old for that anymore...lol.
