The horn will only honk if a door is open and you try to lock it. Otherwise, it will just flash the turn signal lights to confirm activation of the locks.

If the car isnt responding to the key button presses, but all doors lock/unlock electronically with the interior lock button and key in door, then it might be that your key is not programmed

 

I just had a similar issue today.

Fob has always worked and I believe it was original with the D2.

I was replacing the drainage lines on the rear sunroof today. After I got it all back together now the fob does not work. The lights do come one. The physical key works as normal starting the vehicle and locking the doors.

Checked the battery and it is good.

I have held the fob right next to the receiver and nothing.

I've pulled the headliner back down and the wire connector is plugged into the receiver. I did not unplug it during the sunroof repair.

Any ideas?

I just had a similar issue.

Check fuse #20 on the interior fuse box.

It is 3 from the top on the right.

15 fuse.

I now mine was bad, replaced it and now the fob works.

If your fob is original and no one programed other fobs in it's place and the red light comes on when you press the button this may be the fix for you.

 

I do this all the time with my Disco 2 key fob. Suprisingly it adds an extra 6-8 feet in signal range.
