Default Knock sensor code PO327

Hey guys,

I know this topic came up a thousand times, but I am having a difficult time pin pointing my problem.

Recently i replaced the head gasket, had a valve job done , etc, when put back together, it started the first time, and has been running fine, however i just happened to hook up an obd reader to my truck and fault code P0327 came up, I clear it and it comes right back, i see everyone talking about checking the cable, etc. I don't know where the sensors are at can some one please tell me their location, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank You

the cable runs between the steering pump. The truck can run without thoses connected but youll see the constant code. It could have been pinched when you mounted the pump. It wont show any SES light just a pending code. If you want to fix it ok if not its ok too. just me, too lazy with that p code. lol

I don't know where the sensors
Sensors locate each side of engine block near motor mounts and near plane as the block drain plugs. A web search should result in plenty of images.

This is what I found on our 03. While removing the heads, I found the drivers side knock sensor wire had been pinched between the P/S pump bracket an engine by previous owner(s).

If needed, a new knock sensor for a Disco 2 was almost $40 at Auto Zone.

You should be able to follow it to where ever it goes. It has to go through the firewall at some point

right side or left?

Were you able to check if the cable is intact all the way? If it got pinched, its grounded.

Also note that it is a shielded coaxial cable which carries a low voltage signal to the computer. That's why it being pinched or gouged is an issue, once the shield is no good, the signal is trash.

This is not the kind of wire you can just re-solder together. I had mine get pinched by the shop mechanic and they were nice enough to pull another one out of an old wire harness they salvaged for just such occasions.
