Default Knock sensor wire..question.

Got a quick question about the knock sensor wire on my 03. I was changing the 02 sensors last week when I noticed the wire going to the knock sensor was missing the plastic cover and it was coated with oil. I cleaned the oils up and saw that it was wrapped with black electrical tape. I unwrapped it to see what was up. Does this look peculiar to you guys?

Ive cleaned it up with MAF cleaner and I can rewrap it if there’s nothing else I need to do.

Caked with oil and no plastic cover.

Cleane up and found wrapped with electrical tape.

Peeled off the tape and found this.

can't tell if it's factory assembly crimp or someone tied in a new sensor plug. The braided wire is the sensor shield....other wire is signal, but I thought they were pink...

Normal factory assembly. Cheesy I know, that was LR in the early 00's. Frame like a tank, wiring like a kids toy.

Thanks man! Yeah Ive dealt with plenty of cheesy Brit wiring from my late 90s Triumph motorcycle days. Knew it looked familiar. LOL! I got it all cleaned up and now I’ll wrap it back up real good and get a new plastic cover for it.
