Default Know the Code

I have a 1997 Disco. I changed the battery and forgot that the radio has an anti-theft pin code. Now I can't use the radio with entering the code. Anyone know how to find out the code? Should I call the dealer (what info will I need to give them)?

Thanks

in my owner's manual case, theres a thing with a card that says the code.

if you dont have that, the VIN is probably all you need to get it from the dealer.

best of luck.

i am apart of another forum, and i was reading about a similar forum. To get the code you have to have you phone number and address and stuff ready, and VIN of course, and you call up the dealer.

The whole point to the code is to prevent someone from stealing it and using it. Unless the Dealer knows you personally he won't give out the code # re tele. You'll have to make an appointment and show ID. Most Dealers charge A half hour of labor to do so. Keep in mind that 50 % of the time the code # listed on line is incorrect and they have to pull the radio out and call in the serial # to obtain the correct code #.

Yeah, it sucks. My advise, throw that POS in the can and go get A nice aftermarket unit.

I had the same problem when I changed the battery in my 97 Discovery. I called up the guy who regularly services my car and he got the code from Land Rover. I think that they are more free with the code than you think since they've discoved that very few people steal a Disco radio. In the LR3 (which I just got) they have dispensed with the code entirely.
