Default Land rover on Craigslist

I have a co worker that is looking at this disco. Just wanted to see what everyone thought for the price. Seems like with all the work done its almost a good price but still high mileage.

kinda pricey for that many miles... and without the 04 locking transfer case. I would keep looking without knowing the engine history it could be on the verge of needing a head gasket. and no kind of warranty. IMHO it s a pass.Others might say to offer a lower number say 6 and see if they go for it. looks as if they are doing straight high value from KBB.

The head gaskets have been done once, so the owner is now aware of the need to monitor the overheating issues closer, so not sure 2nd head gasket job is due or not, there is documentation on all work, good detail in the description which means the seller at least is moderately LR informed. Better information than most you will see. Check the VIN against the bad oil pump VIN list for '03s that you can find on this or other forums.

I think it is worth considering. Its says the transfer case was updated, see what that means, and if that means CDL has been added that is a pluls. Have an independent LR shop go over it for their pre-purchase analysis and offer some less using that analysis if if shows any shortfalls, but does not look bad to me.

No need to check the oil pump, if it's good now it's not going to go bad.

The guy is trying to get all his money back for the lift, safari rack, driveshafts, etc. I totally understand why he wants so much. I told my buddy to get it inspected by a LR mechanic to see if there are any little things wrong that don't matter but can bring the price down. As well as the CDL question. I would offer 8000 if it checked out perfect. It's a nice truck

Mine made it to 114k before I started to notice subtle oil pump issues. Took it apart and found the outer ring cracked in 3 places.

This is in reference to issue of the mis-aligned dowl on the front cover. Not the actual gears. This was primarily an issue with the 03's but was limited to a small number of actual models affected. Also those, not all, affected tended to blow prior to 30k. I had to replace my front cover gasket at 120k so I figures I would do the gears, timing chain etc. at the same time. gears were perfect as well as the timing chain. I did replace with the new since had them. Some break some do not.

Doesn't seem too shabby to me, I'd do $8,000

Also, I would see who is listing the D2 and who they may be listing it for. The reason I say that is in the listing of items near the end, one item states "Continued on Back", which to me means this information was provided by the owner possibly on paper for some one else to transfer to Craigslist to create the ad. I could be wrong, but you may want to check that.
