Just bought a 1998 LE in great condition except for bald rear tires. Would like to get the biggest, "knobbiest" (but still highway confortable) tires you can put on the standard rims - but without requiring a lift kit (yet!).

What's the size?

I would think maybe a 30 inch tire. I saw a discovery series 2 today with 31 inch tires it didn't look like it had a lift. [&:]

 

Max size with little or no rubbing:
D1 w/ no lift = 245/70-16
D2 w/ no lift = 265/75-16
