I'm looking at buying an 00' Disco II (first car!), the listing says that it leaks anti-freeze but that it's an easy fix. Can anyone give me more info on this or a price to fix it? I'd love to have this truck, but if it's going to cost me too much to fix it already it's not going to work.

 

we need more information..if it's leaking around the throttle body its a .02 cent repair..if its leaking from the engine heads it might be a $2,000 repair.

Aging luxury vehicles and sports cars do not make for good first cars. This is a proven fact, that is never understood by anyone being cautioned agains the decision, so it gets proven again and again without fail. I watch this same story unfold with Porsche 944s on other forums.

Also, when someone is selling something that has a problem that is an "easy fix!", the first question you should be asking is "then why didn't you fix it first and get more money out of the deal?"

Cue "but my dad has an awesome set of tools in the garage" type response.

 

Just my opinion but I would not suggest an LR for a first car for anyone unless their dad was an LR mechanic with a full shop and deep, deep pockets. I love mine but sometimes I want to love it off a cliff and kiss it goodbye with a Molotov cocktail lol. Of course it can't survive daily driving but that it would probably survive with flying colors lol.

 

Run, unless you want to become a part time LR mechanic. If you dont have the time or motivation to work on it yourself it could get expensive. I love mine, but fixing it has kind of become a fun hobby.

 

x2 Have them fix the little problem first.
