Leaky valve cover gaskets, sure, ...but coolant?

A couple hundred miles and after tightening the TBH hose clamps, no more coolant along the valve cover. Now it I could only stop the oil from leaking there....

I'm not opposed to bypassing the TBH, we get some cold weather here but not to the point that engine heat alone wouldn't be enough. I've yet to have one leak on its own however if/when that day arrives I'm not buying replacement parts for it.

At the risk of stating the obvious, have you checked the valve cover bolts? They are known to loosen on their own. A friend here found that a few were loose on his DII and tightening them either stopped the leaks or reduced them noticeably.

Another thing is Best4x4's PCV valve mod. It can reduce pressure inside the engine that can promote leaks from the valve covers.

Yep, been down both those roads. VC bolts were in fact loose and a couple turns did slow the leaking but the gaskets are typical aftermarket and need to be changed, there's lots of cracking visible around the edges. The SAI system is such a PITA that motivation is hard to come by..
