Hi guys,

The truck has leaned to the left for years, I thought new springs would fix it. No dice. I've checked the 4 body mounts, they seem fine.

Where else should I look? The lean seems more exaggerated in the front.

I've searched the forum and can't find anything...would really appreciate suggestions.

I think your truck snuck out to a Bernie Sanders rally if it is leaning left.
Did you do the work or a shop?

 

Does your truck have ACE?

 

Ha. Good thought but my disco is definitely not feeling the Bern.

I did the work with a friend who's done several replacements.

No air suspension, straight up coils and shocks.

 

If no air on rear suspension, probably no ACE either. If power steering reservoir has two caps then it has ACE. ACE physically forces the anti-roll bars to lean left or right as needed. If broken it can lean out of level.

 

What springs did you have and what springs did you replace them with?

RHD D2 have different springs side to side, but LHD D2 have the same springs side to side. Most "lifts" were designed for RHD so the have springs labeled driver and passenger side.

(This does not apply to D1)

 

The old springs were originals, the new ones are same in the front but heavy duty terra firmas (no lift) in the rear.

Truck has no ACE, I would think this would be simple

 

I'd check the spring plates and spring plate mounts. Never heard of failures there, but its possible. Also make sure the coil isolators are where they're supposed to be.

 

My 98 D1 leans to the right and I'm just leaving it alone. It was like that before I put a TF 2.0 medium lift on it, and I made sure I put the proper coils on the L/R side no change so not a big deal in my book.

 

My 96 D1 (left hand drive) leaned to the right noticably before I installed new TF light duty springs for 2" lift about 6 months ago. Now it STILL leans to the right but only by an exact inch, front and rear measured to top of wheel well arch. Didn't notice anything out of shape during install, but that's no guarantee I guess. I'd like to know that that is normal, but can't imagine why it would be. Hasn't presented any problems so not at the top of my fix it list.
