Question Left Pax door - Stuck shut!

The left pax (rear) door will not unlock/open. It is stuck in locked position. Pulling on the door handle from either inside or outside is like just pulling on a locked door.

The power locks function normally on all remaining doors, but this one will not unlock. Pulling on the unlock lever on the door doesn't help -- the lock simply springs back in place.

I believe if I can pull off the inside door panel then I will be able to figure it out (the internal lock-lever must be jammed, bent or out of alignment, etc), but with the door closed I cannot access any door panel screws! No way that I can see to get inside the door panel (without going mid-evil and simply breaking/cracking/shredding the inside panel open and destroying it in the process!).

Any ideas? I'm literally stuck with this door problem!

Cheers fellas,
SolAeon

Try pushing in on the door while operating the power lock switch, sometimes this will relieve tension on the door latch and let it function. You could also try "thumping" on the door while operating the switch. Other than this I can't think of any other course than destroying the inner panel. (the front door is different, it's possible to get at the latch by using a wedge between the glass and outer door panel, then using a long screwdriver to operate the latch through that opening but the little fixed 1/4 glass on the rear door eliminates that option)

If you are in super lock mode, that would latch everything and disable interior lock handles. There are two door "motors", one is regular and the other is the super lock one. The central locking system applies voltage to the motors in one polarity to latch, and another to unlatch. You can get at the connectors. I'll attached schematics and pix from the RAVE. You'll want to measure for 12 volts on lock/unlock commands across pin 6 and pin 9 of connector C0292. You can also introduce volts there if you like. If wire is open to motor or motor itself is open (read for ohms) then no joy. Superlock is one of those things that sounds like a neat idea, but in practice it can cause issues when it fails.

Buzz, I didn't even want to raise the idea of superlock, every experience I've had with that hasn't been good, but every one I've seen with a superlock problem affected all the locks, not just one. But I've only run into superlock jobs a half dozen times, I think the best tool for superlocks is a Sawzall.(same tool I'd like to use on the engineer that designed it. Might be a worthwhile option if you're a politico or some super rich potentate, but they have armored car companies that can add junk like that) OK , I'm off my soapbox now.

OK, here are a few to try.

1) First, try to go to superlock with double click. Then click out on the unlock.
You probably tried that.

2) Use the KEY in the driver's door to try to unlock and then back out.
Maybe that will throw a different circult and allow it to unlock.

3) Take driver's door with key to superlock and then out of superlock to see if that will allow the passenger's door to open.

Otherwise you are stuck.
You will need to open the door panel
and then drill into the locking mechanism to unstick it

I would try Savanna's direct wire technique power injection to convince the 2nd motor to unlock.
I would only do this if the wire connector on the motorized door latch is disconnected from the locking electronics on board the Rover.

One other idea..

lock all the doors.
Then try to exit the D2 via the driver's door by pulling on the exit latch on the driver's door.

With the KEY IN the ignition and ON, it takes two pulls of that exit latch to pop the locks.
Maybe that would do it too.

I would also exert some pressure on the door opening handles - inside and outside to see if unlock/lock with a little pressure on the handles will unjam it.
And, try to lift the unlock tab on the inside of the door while trying to unlock with the FOB.

Try all sorts of things.
