Ive always placed my phone in one of the cup holders but realize I need a better system to mount it. Was wondering if we can get this thread going to see some D2 mounting examples.

Ram mounts. Phone on the left, iPad mini and GPS in the center

Phone on the left is super handy. I have a double DIN touchscreen stereo w/ Apple CarPlay, but I still use the phone most of the time instead to control things

 

Here is my setup Left to right old cellphone I use as a temp gauge/engine monitor, GPS with Bluetooth, GPS for my VHF radio, head for the GPS radio is below the hand held
GPS. My actual cellphone is usually in it's case on the passenger seat, it works fine through the Garmin Bluetooth for phone calls. In six years both in my old R50 Pathfinder and the Disco those suction cup mounts have never fallen off or given me any grief, all though the driving GPS mount is stating to give up the ghost after 5 years.

 

This is the iOttie mount. It fits on dash or on windshield. Works with iPhone 8+ size.

 

Is that permanently mounted to the dash or held on with some sort of adhesive? I have had some adhesives fail in the past when in hot weather (113°+ Arizona summers).

I'm a huge fan of scosche magic mounts. Especially handy when you have multiple cars

 

The iOttie is not an adhesive but rather a sticky gel and that adheres a base plate to the dash, to which you then mount with suction cup part of the device. It can be removed and remounted ,but I have the same mount in 3 different cars and the extreme heat has not been an issue with it. Of course you can always mount the device using just the suction cup straight to the windshield too. I am not trying to sell you on this one, just giving you my experience with it and it has been great all around.
