Default License Plate Screws

Hi,

This is a really basic question, but I've been trying to find a set of license plate screws (USA) that will fit both front and rear plates (2004 Discovery S). I've bought three different screw sets from Autozone, and the screws are either the wrong thickness, or else they're too long for the Disco frames and push into the body of the car.

Does LR have a standard license plate screw set? Or, can anyone recommend a generic brand that fits the Disco perfectly? I want four screws on each plate that secure the plate snugly and prevent it from rattling.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I just went Home Depot and stainless steel, not a problem. You can always grab a bunch of different sizes and return what doesn't work (and remember — metric).
I did learn the hard way that wading can rip the front plate off of the stock bumper (they're made for the wider and shorter EU plates), so big washers on the front now.

I went to the local hardware store to get mine. I think it was a M6 but I could be wrong.

Very timely, I was just sourcing them for my 04. They are M6, and 6mm length seems about right for the rear - front can be longer, 8mm or so. I used Phillips head in stainless steel.

The threaded brass inserts stuck to the screws and stripped out of the plastic holder when I was forced to buy new plates after 7 years.

Now I have to get new plastic holders front and back.

Wish I had known/done that before attempting to unscrew the old plates.

Cheap and easy but still a hassle.
