Default Lift Questions..

Hello all,

I am a newbie here and I was wondering if there is a way to tell if you have a lift on your disco. When I bought the (2001 Disco II) truck a few months back it came with 265/70/16's on it which is roughly about a 30.6 in tire. I was wondering what was the biggest tire on a stock suspension you could have. I have seen/read some guys riding with 265/75/16's with the ome 2" lift which is roughly 31.6 in tire. Only 1 inch difference between the two. Thanks in advance!

Keep in mind larger tires also effect the low end torque... I can't wait to get mine regeared next winter.

No offense ebg18t...

But maybe I didn't ask my question correctly...

1. Is there a way to tell if you have a lift on your truck if you didnt put it on yourself?

2. What is the biggest tire that will fit on a stock suspension?

3. What size tires does everybody that has a stock suspension running?

look for blocks between the frame and the body. look for extended brake lines.

Many of the after market springs and dampers are colorful. My oem parts were plain black. That should give you a good indication if you have an after market lift.

Maybe I am wrong but I thought the only lift for a Land Rover was a suspension lift not body lift.

Measure from the ground to the bottom of your wheel flares, going through the center of your wheel. I have a 2-3" lift and i measure about 36".

Right depending on your sidewall tire height. If you have a lift you will have 34" to 36" fender flare height. I have a Old Man Emu 2" lift with 265/75/16 tires. My fender flare measurement is 34"

There is a body, on a frame, no reason you cannot lift it.

That kit is for a D1, but I'll bet enough googling will find one for a D2.

Suspension lifts are far more common on a discovery though.

I am running new 245/75/16s that are 30.7" (per the tire specs) on a stock suspension. I would say you can not go any bigger than that without a lift. But from what you are saying at 30.5" you may not have a lift, but looks like you are running a little wider tire, so not sure, and I am not an expert by any means.
