Question Lights???

Hey Guys, I am new here. Just bought a 1998 LR Discovery. Its my first one, so not too Familar with it yet. Just had a few Questions about the 50 Millions Outter Lights that it has. When I bought it a lot of the Lights were not working(Bumperlights,Fender lights). I know there are different switches for the Different Lights. Some Are working and some are not. I have check the Builbs on the ones that are not working and they seem to be good. Maybe they appear good and they are not? Also the Side Fender lights, The Small 1in square lights. What do those do? are those Running Lights? I cant seem to get either side to work. And one Side on the bumper Lights, cant get them to light up. Any info would be helpful, Just trying to get them all working.

the inch sq. lights on the side are turn signal activated, frt (yellow) & rear (red) bumper end cap lights come on with the headlamps in either switch position, corrosion is probably your worst enemy for now....go through all the connectors

The Square lights we are talking about are on the Fender that are turn Signals? Right infront of the Front Driver and Passagner Doors?

Guess I will just Check over the Sockets and Bulbs for any Corrosion. I Sockets seem like they my a bit Difficult to clean out, It has the Sockets that Take the slim bulbs that you just push in insteat of Twisting. I am sure you know what I mean. Do they make a Spray to get down in there and Free some of that Corrosion up?

yes there are some specific sprays for electrical use but carb / brake cleaner will work just as well.....dont get it on the paint though !!! another really good cleaner for these things is baking soda and water (or vinegar) mixture

Get the electical cleaner spray. If you use carb spray, you will kill the o-ring that seals the connector to the socket. Once it is clean, use some dielectric grease before you put the bulb back in. It will help keep the moisture out.
