Default lights blow fuse?

My disco has off road lights on the front brush guard. They are hooked up to the fog light switch on the dash below the clock. I think my fog lights were unhooked and these lights wired in their place. The problem is that when you turn them on after a few minutes they blow a fuse. The fuse that blows is under the front hood. In the manual its #2 - Lights, 20 amps. Its got so hot that its melted the plastic around the fuse. What do you think might be wrong in this system? I guess I need to see what wattage the off road lights are to start with. I thought it was weird that it would blow the fuse under the hood instead of the fuse under the steering wheel labeled for the fog light. Is it common to disconect the fog lights and use that switch to run the brush guard lights?
Thanks,
Jason

We need a little more information about your truck. What year and model?

When I removed my factory fog lights I wired a small set of aftermarket lights in to the factory switch so I would have to say it's not uncommon to do that. Fuse 2 under the hood is the fuse for the fog lights. That fuse is actually for all the lighting on the truck. It is designed to be used with 55 watt bulbs in the factory fog lights. I'm guessing your off road lights have 100 watt which is pretty common and is overloading the system. You need to either go down to 55 watt bulbs or wire the off road lights in a separate circuit.
