Default Little bit of help needed if you can

Here is the original thread,
https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...-advice-76298/

I've bled the snot out of this thing, replaced the non-functioning condensor fan. I even went as far as to replace the thermostat just because. Auxiliary fan comes on at 210* at idle. Why is it hitting 210 with a 180 stat? It hit 215 before I brought the revs to 1500, at that time the temps immediately dropped, fast.

I'm deathly afraid to drive it for fear of causing unnecessary damage.

Little more backround, waterpump, fan clutch, and radiator are all around 2 years old in January.

OEM grey thermostat. Have not used a hydrometer yet. Didn't even think about it, I figure the coolant is fresh.

Ok, I remember your original thread now.

Did you test the thermostat before you installed it?
Coolant level is holding or, dropping and you keep topping off. ?
Pressure test? An inspection for coolant leasks, pull a spark plug and check for coolant in cylinders? Exhaust gases in coolant., Coolant in oil?

You know were I'm going with this right?

Yes I do. What you describedo is the plan for the weekend. I'm not loosing coolant, level holds, no leaks, hoses are hard but squeezable. Tested thermostat before installation, it worked. So far as I can tell no oil in the coolant. Dipstick is clean. No oil in the reservoir either. Thinking about draining it, but I've barely put 150 miles on it since the shop repaired their botched freezplugs. I'm just too nervous.

I would also have another go at that fan-clutch. I haven't had good luck with the products that are coming out nowadays. Obviously you have another kink in the works but a weak fan-clutch won't do it any good either. Run all of the tests on that. Hopefully the engine checks out and it's just a faulty system component.

Granted, but let's have him eliminate all other potential issues, before we start replacing parts. Measure twice, cut once.

Exactly. Clear something up if you will, engine cold, the fan clutch should not freewheel or should it? Losing my mind a bit as my little car is developing issues... lol
