Default Lo-Hi-Neutral

Recently brought my 99 Disco 2 into a Land Rover Specialist to have the front prop shaft replaced...$900 later, now I can't move the 4wd from HI to either neutral or low.

Regardless of need, what could have happened in the repair that created this issue?

Also: $700 alone for front prop shaft, bit of a mark up huh?

Thanks kindly,

Aaron

nothing they did should have effected the transfer case shifter linkage, but if it worked before I would bring it back.
If they used a LR replacement drive shaft that price is just about on the money, land rover charges right around $700 for a new drive shaft.

Hope they went with an upgraded shaft, instead of original design. From the factory the propshaft did not have the extra grease fittings that aftermarket shafts have. So after a period of operation it will be subject to same failures as before. But, $900 is less than $900 + transmission, which is what a snapped shaft can take out before you can get to the side of the road. Pix of the trouble areas for the shaft.

Wow my upgrade shaft is $300 shipped to your door. Sounds like you got screwed and probably got sold a factory shaft.
