Lock Issue
I just noticed the remote for my door locks on my 04 Disco stopped working. Initially I thought it was just the battery in the remote but it seems the automatic actuator isn't working. When it goes in gear the doors no longer lock and the same when I manually lock them, when it goes in park they no longer open. The manual switch on the dash does work though.
Any ideas if there is a sensor common to the gear selector and the remote fob?
BTW I did just remove the drivers door panel to retreive a bottomed out window, anything in there I may have inadvertently disconnected that could cause the issue? Just thought about because IIRC they worked before the repair.
One more BTW, Will a dead battery cause any issues here? Mine died as a result of a very special needs moment by my and was dead overnight.

So better describe what isn't working, are you talking about all the doors or just one, the only time they all lock or unlock is with the dash button, if so, sound like it is not a lock actuator.
I don't think its an actuator issue. Both the dash switch and using the key the old fashoned way work all the locks appropriately, when turned once the drivers door unlocks, when turned a second time all the locks open. Pushing the dash switch opens/locks all doors. Its just the gear selector switch no longer locks/unlocks after you take off and the remote won't either. The alarm also still works with the key when turned a second time after locking the drivers door.
I'm kinda scratching my head, if I cleared the codes by killing the battery, I would think the switch connected to the gear selector would still work?
