Default Locked out/ Security alarm... go or no-go?

Still on the hunt for a decent disco in the $1k price range with not TOO much wrong. Ran across one that is apparently in great shape mechanically and cosmetically with the exception of 1) salvage title and 2) the owner says the door will not unlock and that the security system is in alarm status. Sounds like he does not want to deal with towing it to a dealer to have it reset. I have done some research today and it seems highly likely that the alarm can be disabled with a sequence of turning the key in the door lock or replacing the door lock pin. Either way, does this sound like a deal that would be worth a shot? Best case scenario I get there, get it for under $1k, have it towed back home and it’s a simple fix.. too much of a gamble?

Maybe not. Although if i couldn't listen to the motor, I would be at more like $500 max.

What's it look like?

hows the frame?

what else is wrong?

1k for a truck that sounds decent and has simple issues isnt bad. Its 3-400 just in scrap, parts if you part it could make up the rest...

looked great from all the pics, and apparently nothing else wrong BUT the guy has already taken the listing down before I could even schedule a time to look at it. So annoying not having many locally for sale! They’re all 3-4 hours away. Wondering if he figured out how to reset it and is planning to re-list at a higher price.

Just gotta be patient, that is the key. One will pop up for sale that fits your needs eventually!
