Long block replacement cost?
I'm starting to fish around for costs and locations to swap out my engine with a long block that I've rebuilt. I know these things vary in price depending on the locality (I'm near Seattle, WA) but I've called up two places, one won't do it at all and the other (Lamorna Garage- Indy LR) wants $3500 to do it. $3500 seems steep but I don't have a good frame of reference as this would be the "biggest" thing I've ever had a shop do for me. I'm still getting some quotes but any experience others have had would be good to reflect on.
I paid around $2000 to have my Turner installed. That included all new cooling system parts, transmission filter and fluid change, and a few other parts. Also included a second oil change after break in. This was at a Rover specialist shop.

Anything under $2k I would pull the trigger on without thinking about it too much because that's the imaginary number I somehow dreamed up. I pulled the block I rebuilt out at the pick and pull yard so I have some idea of what it takes.
For reference it is about 4 hrs to get it out and about the same going back in if no other parts are changed. I would definitely change ALL the cooling system parts and the starter. Wrap the CPS cover in foil and you will never have another CPS failure.
That's what I thought (time wise). I pulled my replacement block out at the pick and pull yard and my untrained bumbling self got it out in 5 hours working outside in the sun. I'm actually pretty satisfied with the condition of my cooling system parts (I did a once over when I installed in your inline mod) and I recently swapped out the starter.
