Default Long Brake Pedal Throw??

I previously owned an 03' and 04' Disco until the 1st of the year when I dumped the 03' for a 100 series Toyota.

Since then I've noticed that the brake pedal throw on the Disco is very long compared to my 100. I can mash that pedal all the way to the floor at 30MPH and I would think my ABS would go crazy trying to prevent a wheel skid but it doesn't.

I just replaced all rotor with EBC solids and AKEBON pads. I see no difference.

Now I may have just become spoiled as you just touch the 100's brake pedal and you get braking quickly and firmly.

Any suggestions other than to go to the gym and work out my week legs..

Cheers

This thread fixed my "squishy" or "double pump" brake pedal on my D2: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...e-fluid-23074/

The Disco brakes have always been soft, especially compared to the Yoto's.
One thing you can do is replace at least the 4 rubber hoses at the calipers and do a full 2 quart DOT 4 brake flush, it will be better.

Hey Mike,

Would you recommend Stainless lines? I guess they are still rubber just with a stainless braid cover. Not sure this would limit expansion of the line much.

Some do have rubber on the inside, but the stainless steel brake keep the hose from swelling so you get all the pressure from the master cylinder.
