Default Long Shot: Need a Mechanic in Toronto

Preferably the East end.

My old mechanic was excellent with the jeep, but Land Rover is beyond him.
I want an independent who has a clue what to do with a Rover.
Or at least knows where his metric tools are.

Again, long shot, but I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Thanks!

Disco's aren't rocket science. It's a GM motor. But a lot of mechanics won't touch them because they are foreign.

I was just speaking with this guy and they sound good. They are located in the Brampton/Malton area and have good diagnostic rates and etc. I am going to look to get my truck towed there if this doesn't work out.

Brampton is too far.

Fortunately I need the new prop shaft put on; gives me a test run.
The bolts are too seized for me, as well as being stripped by the previous mechanic who assumed he would have spares, but when he realized they were metric just put the stripped ones back on (hence the need for a new one).

Random mechanic it is then. I think there's one around me that does BMW/Mercs, might give him a whirl.

Where are you sDot? Starting to think we need a Toronto group.

What year is your truck? You might be able to drive it to the mechanic without the front shaft by locking the TC from underneath, that is assuming you can atleast get the driveshaft out.

If I could get it out, I wouldn't be worried. Putting new bolts in would be easy.
I'm actually afraid I'll get seven out of eight and then be buggered.
No mechanic will charge much for 8 bolts, so I figure it's a good chance to interview.

Oddly that points to the other reason I want a new mechanic — last one pulled the whole centre console out (including the drill out of the rivets - whole 9 yards) without telling me until it was back together.
I have CLD and the D1 lever/linkage waiting to install.

And he got that wrong — yanked the shifter without reading the line in the rave about putting it in neutral before pulling it. So now it's loose. And the parking brake lever is finicky, I assume for similar reasons. And he broke parts of the electrical switch plate plastic... that kind of thing.

I just want someone who is careful and can (and will) read.

I believe my only experience with Westminster was calling for a part and getting a laughably high price (I think they were the one that wanted $150 for a used windshield wiper that I could get new shipped from England for $30, but might have been something else).
They're way to far out of the city to do me any good. I want somewhere I can drop the truck off.
More looking for a small independent mechanic who understands them.
I still don't have anyone, I've been doing everything myself (except old changes), but it's just a matter of time before something beyond me goes.
