Default Looking at a 2002 Disco II SD

I'm looking at a 2002 Land rover Disco II SD. Only has 69K on it. Seems to look good in Pics.

Does the 2002 SD have the diff lock in the Xfer case? the shifter is hi lo range only. I was thinking I could add a cable shifter but I'm not real interested in dropping the Xfer case to add one.
Price is bit high at $8500.00 but looks to be in very good shape. Probably about time for major service work but that isn't so bad.
Just wondering if a diff lock cable would be as easy as my 99 Disco II

Wondering whats the word on the street

Oh yea does this have a stock front drive shaft without Grease fittings ??

Thanks

You will be wanting to rebuild or replace the front prop shaft.

No diff lock on 02, not even an option to upgrade because it lacks the proper linkages. Due to this, you can't add the cable shifter, you'd need a new T-case. I just bought a high mileage 2002 DII SD for $7k, but I didn't really care about price, I just wanted a rust free truck. Mine has literally none, you probably don't really deal with rust in Kentucky though.

This truck looks brand new. Little ole lady bla bla kinda thing. Rust isn't too bad around here. My 99 has no rust and I have been driving it since 2001.
Gotta have a diff lock. at least the option for one. Not sure how much a transfer case costs but seems a bit odd they stopped putting the diff lock in there. May look around some more.
I guessing any truck after that one also doesn't have a diff lock.
Thanks for the info

for that kind of money you can get an 04 with a 4.6 and a CDL

I would go straight to 04 models if you need CDL. T-Cases aren't crazy expensive used, but it's not worth it if you haven't bought the truck already.

Haven't bought yet just started looking. I have a 99 DII that I am considering keeping It just needs a high miler service. So I thought I would look around. Maybe upgrade to a newer model. Thanks for the advice Needs to be at least an 04

You could check for the CDL nipple on the t-case just to make sure. But yeah I agree 8500 is too much. It would have to be top of the line, immaculate condition and low miles to warrant that price for an 02 imo.

Keep the 99 and buy a D1 shifter or find a 04 linkage. The 4.6 isn't going to really help you that much at all and adding SAI just increases the complexity of dealing with issues (and more parts to break).
