Default looking at a 2002 tomorrow...

I already found a CDL t-case, so that's not an issue. I'm concerned about the head gasket issues though. How can I tell if this one may be having issues or developing issues?

Thanks again!

cylinder pressure test will tell if one is bad now but if you want to know if one is going to fail I'd say good service records showing coolant has been changed regularly would be your best bet. Just curious, with so many cheap '99-mid '01s out there why bother with installing a transfer case in a '02?

Because the 2002 is in town, the good & cheap 99-mid 01 are not. It's just the market I'm dealing with. For some reason, the the few earlier DIIs around here are either super high miles with problems or their owners (usually dealers) think they are made of gold. All the reasonable ones are at least 300 miles away right now. I do have friends & family looking at a couple of distant DIs today, & I'm e-mailing a lady about her DII. I wish I had a second vehicle, then I'd go spend the weekend in Chicago or Denver shopping for one.

T-case swap should be easy, & I found a good one cheap!

It did indeed have blown head gaskets. A little moisture on the oil cap, the occasional whiff of anti freeze smell while it was running. Took it to an indy Rover specialist who confirmed it.
