what im trying to say is ... whats a good deal... all you told me was you got a 02 for 9k over 5 years ago... was it high miles, low miles, single owner, lots of repairs, condition basically details. Simply telling me "you give me warning" means nothing in regards to the price you paid being a deal or not & if the price i am seeing is considered a deal or not. Im fully aware that they are costly to repair & i am handy with a wrench. Not saying that means i look forward to repairs AKA why im trying to throw some questions out there in regard to price, quality, and even attempting to "lower" impending repair cost by doing research on what to stay away from and what is A GOOD DEAL. im not trying to be an a** here im simply missing any facts to your post aside from the basic facts of repairs being costly (thats a given) & that you bought a Rover 5 years ago... Im trying to get into a rover, that is why im asking people for helpful bits of information. Price, Quality, things to jump on or stay away from are what im trying to find out

Default listen..

There is no such thing as a really good deal...something is always attached ....Land rover ownership is for waelthy people...just look at the price new....just because you bought at 1/4 of the orginal price doesnt mean that parts or service is the same discount. You can buy a graveyard 727 for next to nothing but to make it fly , you need millions...If you can turn a wrench and have alot of weekends to rebuild your truck..as you will rebuild the pile if you keep it long enough...than buy one......but.... if you are not rich and cannot turn a wrench then you are setting yourself up for one miserable experiance....

Here, just read.....

Do not finance a very used car (toy). That's always my rule at least. I have come close to doing it multiple times because like any other man, I am impulsive with toy buying, haha. But after sleeping on it I have never done it thank goodness.

Nothing like paying monthly payments and the thing break down on you....regardless of what type of car. That is hell.

If your gonna finance, get a 08-2010 or something for 9k. Yeah it might not be a 4X4, but you will sleep better at night.

The bank will also give you a better rate if you finance from a franchised dealer. The car/truck has to be 5 years or newer most of the time. So 2005 and up. You might be able to score a new bone stock Mitsubishi Lancer for 9-10k. That would be a fun car for ya, lot's of aftermarket mods you can do to it.

Just giving you some more options.

Default 2003 1053 miles over the last 5 days without a hitch

I drove from Indy to north of Milwaukee near Green Lake this past week. Back down to Kettle Moran (Mountain biking) and through Chicago. I have a 2003 in the death VIN range just turned 89000 miles. It was fine over 1053 miles. I have done all the maintenance myself. Now ready for the 90k maintenance. Just wanted to let you know these can be good 4x4's if you take care of them. Oh yea I bought mine at 49k, one owner and it was serviced by the dealer in Virgina before I owned. it. It has been to the dealer one time and will never go back. The dealership is now in my driveway!
