113k miles and it seems nice overall, a little whistle from the engine and not sure about leaks.

WHen the front shaft fails, it does NOT always destroy the tranny, but it can do.

If you have looked underneath and there is no holes or leaks or big puddles of oil, then its probably fine. It all depedns on what speed it happens at.

As far as the M&S lights, the biggest cause is low voltage, if the truck has not been driven, then the battery will be low and the tranny ECU will throw up these lights. How long has it been off the road ?

Even if the car did not have the ABS /TC and HDC lights on, you could buy it an next week they will appear. The biggest cost to fix those is a new CV / Hub assy or ABS modulator, but there is always salvage cars to source bits from.

As stated earlier, engage the CDL and drive it home in 2 wheel drive. if it was an 02 or 03 truck, you would have not had this option at all.

A new shaft will set you back about $300 and they are EASY to fit. As you have no option to rebuild the original, I would get a Tom Woods one, he seems to be popular over there.

It all boils down to price........

How much is it ?

urban, he said $1K firm..which sounds like a good deal to me if the transmission is ok..as stated earlier..engage CDL..test drive..inspect transmission...CDL will be easy to engage with front shaft gone..just wear some old clothes you will have to climb under the rover.

If it were not that far I would buy it. Then again I would also wait and see. I think his firm price will not be firm anymore as time goes on. Either way, it is a good parts rig.

Here you go, its the spigot on top of the front output housing, it needs turning roughly 45* clockwise and you need a 10mm spanner to do it. You will know if it worked as the truck will move when gear is selected

1K seems a good price. I bought my 1998 Disco for that price. Had to change the t-case and do a more than complete tune-up with a brake job.

If you can't get it in running order, keep in mind that you can always part it out to make an easy 2K$.
