Default Looking for a Disco

I am new to the world of Land Rover but have always admired the off road capability and style. I am looking for a Discovery ($3000-$4500) price range and need some help. I do a fair amount of off roading getting to and from hunting locations but will not make any major mods. Two inches of lift would be about it and BFG Muds. What are the various pros and cons of different years, motors, etc. that are available. I think I want one with coils, not air suspension? Reliability issue? Any help is appreciated. Thanks all.

sounds like you'd be happy with a D1

Thanks Spike for the re-direct. Very helpful. Any particular long term problems that arise if someone (previous owner) was not running premium gas?

Yes, if the previous owner was not running premium gas then you are looking at headgaskets, excessive carbon build up on the valves, excessive engine sludge.
The engine sludge and carbon build up are the 2 that will need to be delt with right away.
The sludge will restrict oil flow through the engine.
