Hey guys, I recently took off my downpipe and had to cut off the 2 bolts securing it to the muffler. I made the mistake of cutting off both ends of the bolts instead of trying to get it out with an impact, so now I wanna know if I can replace the whole flange without drilling out the existing bolts. After a quick google search, I found some Walker flanges. Can I cut off the tip of my downpipe and get one of those put on and welded back together? Or can someone advise me on where to get something that fits for sure? Also, is there supposed to be a gasket between the two, and if so, where can I get one?
show a pic of your silencer (where the downpipe connects).....
Yes you can drill out the flange bolts on the silencer and just use through bolts (stainless). no gasket, torus seal of the two pipes placed together
Of course you (or any shop) can cut and weld anything on an exhaust. ....
You could cut off the doughnut male/female tips / silencer flange and get a short stainless flex pipe to go between both, and use two of the stainless non crimping band clamps.....
Thanks for the responses. I'll check out some options and probably either buy a flex pipe or replace the flange since I butchered it cutting off the bolts.
