You say you lost then found the key, have you opened up the remote and tried to install it, it is very easy?

i just want to point out on thing. If you live in a high crime area, or any area for that matter (criminals will travel if the price is right) i would advise against it.
If you dont have the key programed then all it will do is open the door. So if you lock yourself out...and you never keep anything inside your car that cant be replaced. Cars are WAY to easy to break into.
But yes, if you live in a high crime area and you dont have Officer Poncherelo to protect you, you might not want to do that.

Called my local Land Rover dealer (stealer) and the replacement cost is $168.14 for the replacement key-fob and $65.00 to program the key-fob. Apparently the cutting of the key is free if you have another key from which to duplicate it from. At $233.00 there is nothing about this that is FREE......

So you have the key, but NOT the keyless entry.
You can find a new fob online for cheap and then have the dealer program it.
You can get a remote car starter with keyless entry.
You can just open and lock the doors with the key.
All of those options are cheaper than the dealer.

Not to thread jack or anything but I just picked up a land rover key / key fob and one normal key without fob off ebay, do I have to go to a stealership to get the keys cut? I can't get it done anywhere else like a regular key?

No, any one with a key cutting machine can do it, BUT it has to be programed at the dealer.

Thanks Spike555, so its the remote that requires the stealership service, not the key - thanks.
