Default Loud noise while driving & leaking antifreeze. PLEASE HELP!!

I've had my 2000 discovery 2 for about 2 years and from that time it has grown a loud whining noise. It has about 154,000 miles.
We used the old trick of using the end of a brrom and listening to where the loud noise was coming from, and it was the power steering pump. So, we replaced that a few weeks ago and now it still has a loud whining noise. We're not sure what it could be.

It's also leaking anti-freeze. There was a zip-tie instead of a clamp on the hose so we thought it'd be an easy fix and just put a new clamp tightyly on it. However, no matter how much antifreeze we put in it or how tight the clamp is, all of it will leak out and my temperature gauge is always on Red. Even when it isn't in red, every time i turn the car off smoke comes off the hood. Anyone know what to do about all this? We're about to sell it because we cannot stand having to work on it but want to fix it before we do so. Please help!

Yes I honestly would recommend selling it Temp in the red is the first clue that engine is not doing so well, then the smoke from under the hood. Then go and buy an 80's Toyota or Mitsubishi Montero and you'll be all set.

You have a MASSIVE coolant leak from somewhere head gaskets, coolant hoses, radiator, water pump, and it's ran in the red so chances are that V8 will never be happy with slipped sleeves or a cracked block from the over heating.

Your block is cracked. It is building too much pressure from the crack exiting your combustion chamber. Smoke is from coolant leaking to any of the hot places around the engine or mostly dripping towards the exhaust manifold. If too much pressure, the reservoir squirting out through the short overflow hose towards the manifold. the loud whining noise is coming from your A/C compressor or a worn bearing from your alternator or any pulley.
