Loving my disco
I finally got a couple road trips in my disco over the last few days and have to say I love it. Knock on wood I have no issues, I even got into some deep mud and the traction control clicked and buzzed it right through.
On the highway it is so much better than my last comparible vehicle , an 03 rubicon, it’s not even funny. Way better seating, comfort, quiet, enough power to cruise effortlessly. My rubi was gutless at highway speeds, often dropping the manual into 4rth to maintain.
Both trucks lifted on 33’s.
Another pro to the disco is it actually turns well in the mud with the traction control, other trucks I’ve had don’t turn worth a darn in mud if you have your axles locked. Especially the front.
Only real downfall I see is the mileage. Lol
I saw 8.9 mph cruising at 75 mph.

Thats about 10.1 miles per gal which about normal with these trucks. I think the range is 9-12 depending on mods / towing etc.

My unmodified 04 D2 would consistently get 9mpg. Although it was my daily driver and I sat in a lot of standstill traffic.
My 01 D2 with a 2" lift and 265/75/R16s gets just over 12mpg, mostly city driving and some highway. Not a daily, so no traffic. Pretty happy with this figure considering that I only drive it occasionally.

I'm sitting on 3.5" of lift with 33s and I get 12-13 with lots of mountainous roads. I've also done a lot of other mods, too, such as intake, cam, port and polish, long tube headers, full exhaust, electric radiator fan, and power steering delete.
Last summer was getting around 14/15 mpg (pretty reliably). Getting a little lass at the moment, since they run a "winter blend" in the metro area here...and it has probably dropped me down to around 12 mpg.
