Default Low oil, venting

Just rambling. Normally running 15w40 in the disco because.... disco. After finishing a set of head gaskets, re hosing the cooling system, and updating some stuff I decided to start with 5w40 rotella T6. Sure enough once it got warn I got a low oil pressure light at idle. Once the idle goes up like 5 rpm the light goes off. Obviously I need to get readings. Wondering to myself if running 15w40 was hiding something. Looking at pulling the front cover and oil pan now to see whats going on.

Or is that just a bit much? Just throw 15w40 back in and call it a day? Just annoyed. Happy new year!

I left the rocker arm bolts loose once on a hg job, got low oil pressure. shafts upside down would do the same thing. Probably easier to check that than dropping the pan.

I personally have never ran a 5w40 in a LR V8. I've run 10w30, 10w40, 15w40, and heck even 20w50 back in the day during extreme summers.

Have you ever replaced the oil pump gears or front cover?

Ya several times. It'll be easier than doing chains on the M62 for sure haha. I'll probably dump the oil and run 15w40 and measure pressure.

I'm still running 20w50 in the 3.5 . Runs strong haha

as I recall it wasn't particularly noisy but the oil as I recall it wasn't particularly noisy but the oil pressure light came on so I shut it down immediately because I had done an oil pressure test before the head gasket job and I knew it had good oil pressure. Started thinking about what I could have done wrong and thought about the rocker shafts and sure enough they were just barely snug, just barely tighten up the bleed all the pressure out from under the towers
