Low voltage at start until I hit the gas once!!?!?

Update; it was the alternator. Not sure why, but replaced and no problems.

Sounds like it wasn't self-exciting a magnetic field. Once you increase the rpms the stator will feedback enough power to create a field and generate power to the electrical system.
