Lower Engine Knock Fixed
OK - A few weeks ago I posted a video in which you could hear a loud, deep knock, in the lower part of the engine. Forum members like Disco Mike and Buzz were quick to assess main and rod bearings as the culprit. So I dove in, and with some excellent help from forum member earlyrover, I was able to get rid of the lower end knock and tackle the job myself. I still have a top end tick that I'll get to in the coming weeks. Thanks again to this forum and all of the great people who make it possible.
Here's a video that shows it all:

Some of the more granular details not covered in that write up, like plastigauge, micrometering journal roundness, etc, I was lucky enough to have earlyrover fill me in on. But for a straight swap that write up has it all, and I sent a PM to RoverMasterTech thanking him for it!

Nice work. Feel that sense of achievement!
I am amazed that such a major job can be done with the engine installed.
I think that may be the main reason I love this truck so much. Yes, it needs regular work (probly more than a Nissan would), but it's such a pleasure to do that work.
I can't decide if they designed it to be easy to work on, or if it's just a function of "small engine in large hood". Probly the latter, I guess.
Either way, I love it.
