Default LR Disco 2 engine

So, I may be opening myself up to some comments... but I am looking for some input from those with experience. I have a 02 Disco with 190,000 mi on it. I have done all I can to pamper it the last 26,000 mi... however it is now knocking and my fear is main bearing or worse.

So what I am looking for from the experienced one in the group is
  1. replace motor
  2. repair motor
  3. live with it (for now)

I have a line on a motor with around 100K mi on it, but has been tested good. It is going to cost ~ 1275.00 plus my time to install. Apreciate anyone's input.

Cheers!!

I'd say grab the motor, and have it on standby. Drive the other one till she locks up or dies and then swap it out.

Just looked at Turner Eng site... they are 3200.00 US without shipping. Hmmm I am leaning towards the 1275.00 for the whole engine with exhaust man. wiring harness, full top end too. It includes shipping and has 60 day warranty....

Thoughts?

I have the Turner and it is awesome. That said, you could get the 1275 motor and rebuild it as your truck is running. It would not be tophatted, but as long as long as you don't let it overheat it could be fine.

I would upgrade the cam though. The cam turner puts in is a noticeable upgrade.
