LR Fuel Additive, Good idea?
I was going to have my oil changed on my 04, DII, SE, 53K at the dealer. They were telling me to add a bottle of LR fuel additive, part # LRN5051 ($17). Is this a good idea. If so, how often.
Thanks.
Thanks.
i once added a bottle of "octane booster" or some other additive to my fuel in one of my old cars... the next day i blew my motor... my suggestion is find out what this magical concoction is and what the potential gains or damages that may come of it...

I dont know. Without looking at the label and comparing ingrediants there is no way to tell.
Ask the dealer for the empty bottle, take itto AutoZone and then start reading labels.
Chevron with Techtron fuel injector cleaner is a good one. I go to Wal-Mart in the spring and buy the clearanced "seasonal" fuel injector cleaners, ususally 50% off and a decent brand too, like Prestone.
DiscoMike used to work at a dealership, he probally knows more about LR injector cleaner then the rest of us.

Tapper,
Yes a"GOOD" fuel additive is always a good idea once a year. From Seafoam, Chevrons Techtron to B&G's 44K, which is the best, the results will be noticable especially if used when doing a couple hour road trip.
