How did you read the P0705? I didn't think UG or SG read transmission codes.

BTW, P0705 clearly indicates that the problem is the XYZ.

Navigated through SG to scan function and pressed nav button to clear. Only have the SG so don't know about UG but should wok the same. The trans codes are just generic DTCs that any scanner should read.

I just tried to clear it again. It cleared but then threw the code 3 seconds after starting without taking it out of park. I am curious, I would like to take a shot at repairing (cleaning) mine. Is the immediate code indicative of something that would make it less likely to have a positive result from cleaning as opposed to an intermittent code?

Before removing to clean I'd loosen mount bolts and jiggle it a bit just to make sure it's not an adjustment problem.

Immediate code should make no difference in successful cleaning.

Thinking about trying to clean out the connector before I fully remove as well.
Does the unit need to be removed to get the connector off its mount then disconnected?

No, but it's easier to access the connector if the switch is first removed from the transmission input shaft.

I did get it off without removing for the input shaft. Maybe I'm just dumb but I'm glad i was on flat ground because I went to unscrew the bolt to the input shaft and instead of coming off my car went out of park and moved a few inches. That is about as close to a heart attach I have ever had. E brake and block in front of the front tires later I did jiggle it around then re tightened and no change. I am worried I will not put a new one in properly. How do you know when to tighten the set screw/bolt for the cable?

It's just a matter of making sure the position of the transmission selector shaft corresponds with the position of the shifter. I've done it twice.

I am going to completely remove it tonight and drill out the rivets and clean it up. I have seen a few folks bent the contacts for better connection. Is that wise?
