P0705
(14, 23)
* Gear position switch, incorrect outputs
(LR description in manual) Maintains current gear in low range, limp home mode in high range. Shift pressure to maximum, harsh gear shifts/engagement.
For the life of me I cant get the cable tight on the lock down bolt. I have it lined up like every picture on the web but for some reason it wont tighten down. Anymore pressure and I'm going to snap the bolt
Try readjusting the shift cable per the manual, verbiage below It could be preventing enough x,y,z switch adjustment movement.

Cable - selector
$% 44.30.04
Check
1. Position vehicle on ramp.
2. Select position 'P'.
3. Loosen selector cable trunnion nut.
4. Ensure that gearbox selector lever is in 'P'
position, (fully forward) and tighten trunnion
nut.

Wondering how important it is to position on a ramp?
I can fit under it with all four wheels on the ground.
Thoughts?

Well, I did it and no change. My daughter was in the drivers seat trying see if she saw the red dot/line. She swears she saw it on the D at one point when it was in park but she told me too late. If it was on the D that is way off. Makes me wonder if the switch is upside down or something(see I'm an idiot thread). frustration because I just got the new coil packs and valve cover gaskets and I cant tell if it fixed or not because I'm in Limp mode

Just stopped into my local auto parts store to read/clear the codes. I got a news one P1884. I am thinking it has something to do with the MAF. When I started it after the replacing the coils I forgot to plug in the MAF sensor. I cleared it so let's hope it does not come back

It is NOT the XYZ switch (tried a third switch today). Trying to remain patient. Reviewing RAVE but not clear on where the wires go from the XYZ connector( I have checked the wires on the trans side of the switch connector and they are all firmly in place) The RAVE is not real clear on where the wires go. I can feel they go over the top of the trans but I cant reach far enough to get to another connector. Help!

Have a look at the RAVE Electrical Supplement diagrams which shows the routing of the XYZ switch wires which will inevitably terminate in the A/T ECU and/or main ECU.

The RAVE is not real clear on where the wires go.
Do you have the Electrical Library and Electrical Circuit Diagrams from Rave to help?
