magnacore 7mm wires and +4 plugs?
hey guys,
i picked up some magncore 7mm wires from AB and some bosch +4 (4418) for my new motor install this week... whats the word on these wires.... i was told that they are the same as 8mm wires.... just thinner jacket!!!!
are the guts the same? i've also been told that you have to havea 8mm wire to run +4 plugs....
i didnt know i was going to get 7mm wires... i thought i would have gotten 8mm..... so will this combo still work?

After everything that has been said about getting 8MM wires, you bought 7mm?
The conductor is the same in both, but the insulation is heavier in the 8MM. The reason it is needed is you have an aluminum engine which retains the heat long after you quit driving. If there was a cooling fan or side vents, it would be better. These things just cook everything under the hood. The insulation breaks down on the 7MM and they trace spark outside the jacket. Not all of the spark gets to the plug, and the +4's need everything to work right. They will work, maybe even up to a year. I will bet you will get a mis-fire within 2 years.
The iridium plugs do not run as well as the +4's or even the stock. Stock plugs run fine, but the +4's give you a little more torque on low range. Mike ran them for a year or so and went back.

The iridium plugs will run worse than everything on 7MM wires and they don't run as good as the +4's on 8MM. I would send the wires back, if it was me...Get the 8MM so you don't have to chance it. IF for some reason you stay with the 7MM wires, run the stock plugs.
(did YOU not read what I posted?)
gets frustrating when someone asks a question, but doesn't give all of the information. You have 2 sets of STI wires. I am still wanting to know if they are 8MM. If they are, get your money back on the Magnacors and run the STI's. They are good wires and will be better than the 7MM. I have also already answered this question for you, along with several other people.
The way I read, the people that responded were commenting on the plugs, not the fact that your wires are 7MM.
