Main bearing cap bolts dont go in all the way.
In my used 4.0 V8 engine block I ordered from ebay, when screwing the main bearing cap bolts in by hand, some of them do not screw all the way down. What is the best way of fixing this? I tried cleaning the bolt holes, and maybe didn't do that good of a job? I'm thinking of getting a tap and die set and putting the correct size down in the hole, but I do not know what size the main bearing cap bolts are. Anyone know how I can find what size the bolts are or at least know if it is metric or imperial/SAE?

Some bolts are more elevated than others. I cant really find a thread chaser in stores near me. Would a thread restorer kit work? Something like https://www.harborfreight.com/hand-t...ece-61398.html or https://www.autozone.com/loan-a-tool...d-restorer-set?
@evil_goat yup thread restorer is the same thing, just make sure the kit has one that matches your bolt pitch
