Default ..:: The Main Oil Seal Situation ::..

Hello Roverers!

It is time to tackle a front engine oil leak that has haunted my truck for quite some time, supposedly is the main oil seal that needs replacing.

Already bought the seal, but seems too much of a job for this DIYer, so I called a repair shop for it, and they are charging me $165 plus tax to replace it, apparently an hour and half to two hours job.

Is pricing about right? ...any heads up while this is being done? ...your input would be very much appreciated, thanks in advanced! ;-]#

It all depends on the tools the have. If they have the proper Land Rover tool for removing it, yea that seems right but for us shadetree folks, Ive got the grille and radiator removed so I got a straight shot with and impact gun to get the crank bolt off then gonna get a rubber mallet and tap it till it's free, along with a lot of pb blaster. Then it's not hard to remove and replace. It doesn't have to be greased or oiled when put back in.

I'd pay twice that if I knew it would be done correctly.
