Maintenance on idler pulleys help with p #
Just as a pm I ordered a new tensioner and one idler pulley however the smaller idler pulley I think it’s a 70 mm right under the tensioner is a bit tight and doesn’t spin freely
can anyone confirm if Dayco 89052 is the correct part number for this pulley ?
So so far all the parts supplier around me don’t even list a disco idler pulley

This is what I have on my D2 parts cheat sheet for the pulley:
- Small idler pulley: 70mm Dayco #89052 steel (Double seal bearing, 17mm x 40mm x 12mm - #6203-2RS); NTN & SKF are two good brands; same bearing for alternator
the 89052 is the 80 mm. According to parts source here in Canada. They brought the box out and it was 89052 but it was indeed the 80 mm. I had the 70 mm in my hand to proper verify
I looked it up in my cheat sheet as well and I have an Auto Zone P/N 231052. It fits a variety of vehicles & the specs list it as a 70mm pulley by 30mm wide.

Thanks
Are you sure you aren’t missing the collar the pulley sits on?? When you remove the OEM 70MM pulley it’s a 13mm bolt with a curved washer on the front, then at the back it should have a tiny O-Ring keeping the bolt in place. If you remove the O-Ring you will find the rear spacer/collar piece. That is what the Auto Zone 231052 Pulley sits on. That should fit perfectly, then re-install the bolt, front washer, rear spacer/collar, and the O-Ring (just there to keep it all together nicely), then tighten the 13mm bolt down.
I actually just did this job on my 02 Kalahari this evening. The Auto Zone 231052 = perfect fit & no issues. Was like 16.00 out the door. When I drove the Kalahari over the weekend it was squeaking just a tiny bit so I replaced it.
