Major Brake Problem!
I have a 96 Disco w/ 130k. I lost my brakes so I replaced the master cylinder. I couldn"t get it to bleed out so I took it to the Land Rover Mechanic. He couldn't either, said it was a bad Master cylinder. So, I sent off for another one. Put it on tonight, same problem. Can't get the air out of the front driver caliper. Using Castrol GT LMA fluid. I can't believe that I would have 3 bad Master Cylinders. Any thoughts or suggestion??? Please Help!!!
Thanks in Advance,
Kyle

You're still sucking air in from somewhere (like you didn't already know that). Pull your master cylinder and check all the seals, paying close attention to any seals between the master cylinder and the fluid reservoir. Have you done any other work to the brake system? How are you going about trying to bleed the brake system?
I've bench bled both new master cylinders. Installed it and started bleeding with the rear passenger tire, driver rear, passenger front and then driver front. The air seems to mainly be in the driver front. There are no leaks (that I nor my mechanic) can find.
The only thing I can think of is that air is entering through the ABS module somehow? Thoughts?

Bench bleed it again and start with the driver's front. If the line is dry, you may be sucking air right back in. If you need to bleed the ABS, I am pretty sure if you turn the key on and hold the pedal to the floor for 30 seconds, the pump will cycle.
You are using DOT 4 fluid, right?

OKdiscoguy,
My Rover mechanic said he bled the ABS by doing that very thing. Yes, I'm using the Castrol Dot 4 fluid. Any other suggestions? I can't wrap my brain around it.

I say keep trying the one you think might be dry. I had a problem similar with an old Pontiac, and one line just had a lot of air that kept getting sucked back into it. I had to take it off and bleed it like 5 times.
Start with the driver's front. and work backwards, see if you get the same results.
